Sometimes it’s needed to upgrade the firmware in the printer or download (and activate) ZBI program in the printer.

Zebra developed a downloader program for Windows which can download files to the printer’s memory.

ZDownloader or Firmware Download Utility can be downloaded from zebra.com. On zebra.com enter your printer type in the search field and on the printer info page under Downloads > Firmware you can find the link to the utility.

When you start ZDownloader, you should find your printers on USB or on the network.

Select the menu item: Printer > Auto Detect

Usually, we update the firmware on the printer through USB. Right click on the printer’s name.

Click on Select Firmware File… and in the appearing window select the previously downloaded firmware (or program or any ZPL) file. Click Open.

After a while the file appears next to the printer.

When the firmware update is finished successfully, the printer will print out the configuration label.
